Margaret Becker (Founder and President) has more than twenty-two years of experience in civil engineering and technical support for the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA's) Public Assistance Program. She is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Maryland and New Jersey.
After graduating from Virginia Tech, she went to work for a large engineering firm as a project engineer. She has worked on numerous FEMA Disasters in various support positions including PA Crew Leader, 406 Hazard Mitigation Specialist, Quality Control Reviewer, and Project Specialist. In addition to her experience with the FEMA Public Assistance program, Margaret has also worked on various stormwater, wastewater, and floodplain management projects.
Richard Becker (Senior Project Manager) has 22 years experience in land use planning, emergency management, and mitigation planning. He has been a Certified Floodplain Manager since 2010 (through the Association of State Floodplain Managers). He has a diversified planning background that includes supporting several FEMA programs including Public Assistance (PA) and the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). His experience includes three years working for FEMA within both the PA program and HMGP from 1995 to 1998 at Region IV in Atlanta, Georgia. When the temporary program (SDATE) ended, he then transitioned to FEMA Headquarters, working for two years within the Mitigation Directorate. Following his tenure at FEMA, Mr. Becker was employed by the engineering firm URS Corporation as a Project Environmental Planner, with a focus on risk assessment, mitigation planning, and supporting FEMAs PA program. While working for URS he was project manager for numerous hazard mitigation projects including mitigation plans developed for the Texas Medical Center and Baylor College of Medicine in 2003.
